Sensory Room
Based on the research called, "Snoezelen," The Sensory Room is designed to coordinate both gross and fine motor skills towards several outcomes. These outcomes include reduction of anxiety, fine motor coordination, gross motor strengthening and coordination, and relaxation.
Everyone experiences anxiety; however, children with autism and spectrum disorders often experience high levels of anxiety because the need structure and predictable environments. The activities within the Sensory Room allow students to learn self-calming techniques and intentional relaxation.
